TREE PRUNING SERVICES
Pruning involves selectively removing parts of the tree that serve a defined purpose. Typically, branches and roots are pruned, but similar practices extend to leaves, flowers, and fruits. This process aims to improve production in fruit trees and is also referred to as pruning.
REASONS TO PRUNE
Each cut can significantly affect the overall growth of the tree, so no branch should be removed without a specific reason. Typical reasons for pruning include removing dead branches, improving shape, and reducing the risk of falling branches. Additionally, trees can be pruned to allow more light and air into the canopy or landscape beneath the tree. In some cases, mature trees are pruned as a preventative or corrective measure.
WHEN TO PRUNE
Pruning to remove diseased, weak, or dead branches can be performed at any time of year with little impact on the tree. However, pruning is most effective when done before the spring growth spurt, as wound closure and growth are increased during this time. It's important to note that certain tree diseases, such as oak wilt, can develop from pruning wounds and may provide access to pathogens. Therefore, vulnerable trees should not be pruned during periods of active transmission.
